Hi I am Rebecca Downing. I am a Sophomore communications major here at Saint Joseph’s University. I love the digital aspect of communications and hope to do something in Public Relations or event planning after I graduate. The purpose of my Civic Media blog is to write about topics that we are studying in class and other various social movements. A quote that stuck out to me on social issues is, “Change in the world begins with change in your neighborhood. And change in your neighborhood begins with change in you – a change from indifference to responsibility – a change from purpose – less survival to purpose – full living.” I love the emphasis on this quote of becoming the change you want to see in the world. It is super motivational and sheds a light that without the right change you want to see, some issues will always stay the same. I invite you all to come to my fun, engaging weekly blog posts.
